So I’m sitting in front of my computer, taking a break and eating some lunch, when a thought strikes me.  Election season after election season, we watch the two major parties scrape the bottom of the barrell to put forth candidates that make me throw up in my mouth.  Each election season, the slime that oozes out from under the Republican and Democratic rocks, emphasizes the fact that we have candidates who don’t care about serving the people of this nation, but only want to serve themselves.  Usually, they’ve groomed themselves from a young age for political power.  Usually, they’re smarmy, smug, petty little bastards whose only goal is glory, power and cash.  And that seems to be – on the whole – the only kind of politician that gets anywhere nowadays.

Why?

Because quality people don’t want to put up with our twisted society and our demented election system.  They don’t want the media crawling in their trash, sniffing their underwear, licking their bicycle seats and sliding a figurative speculum and large flashlight in each of their orifices to check for skeletons.  Why would they?  Is it worth it for a decent human being to be examined by conspiracy nuts, frothing, overzealous media types and political operatives?  The only person who would put themselves and their families through something as shitty as that is someone who values power more than they value themselves and their families.

I think Sarah Palin and her family are finding this out the hard way.  I doubt she’s the power-hungry, glory-at-all-costs type, but I don’t think she realized what she was getting herself into when she agreed to be McCain’s running mate.  McCain is one of those Washington insiders, who wants the presidency so bad, he can taste it.  He’s used to the way politics are conducted in the United States.  Palin is not.

I wonder if she’s regretting her decision to put her family through this disgusting grinder.

This repugnant display of disrespect for a candidate’s family comes to you courtesy of Vanity Fair – a rag for radical leftist bottom feeders who have an overblown sense of their own importance.

The Kostards must be peeing their panties with joy that a “major publication” would even give credence to their psychotic ramblings and blind hatred so deep, that they would attack a kid in this morally corrupt manner merely because they don’t agree with the political views of her mom.

Integrity?  Forget it!  Journalistic principles?  Yeah, right.

Vanity Fair is little more than a rag you’d keep in your bathroom for those nights when you’ve had a little too much tequila coupled with too many Taco Bell burritos.  But I guarantee you that the vile scum that feeds on scandal and gossip in our society will be all over this like irrelevance on the Wilson Sisters.

I think Palin is too tough to quit.  She’ll likely stick it out, because she’s a fighter.  But I wouldn’t blame her if she did.  I wouldn’t blame any decent candidate for telling the media and the libtarded dirt mafia to go screw themselves.  Why would anyone want to put themselves and their loved ones through this?  Most honorable, decent human beings wouldn’t.

And that’s why we wind up with the substandard shit that oozes into Washington year after year and further erodes the nation that the Founders have built.  Because no self-respecting human being would put up with this crap.  It’s just not worth it.

You want to see quality candidates that are in it to make this nation better and work for those who elected them?  Get rid of the perks.  Get rid of the bennies.  Give them a $50,000 per year salary, allow them to keep one home, and one vehicle.  They want to serve?  They’ll have to pay the people!  And no lifetime benefits!  None.  Once they leave Washington, they can go back to the jobs they left prior to election.  No million dollar speaker fees for at least 10 years, either.  That way any confidential information they might “accidentally” spill on the lecture circuit for $10,000 per appearance, has a chance to be declassified.  Oh, and they need to work.  Really work.  None of this having to take off to campaign bullshit.  They should get two weeks of vacation annually, and work up to more.

How many of them would be clamoring to get elected then?
