They have some of the most dangerous jobs in the country. They’re not Soldiers or police officers. They work in some of the most violent neighborhoods in the nation’s capital, and yet, thanks to more loophole exploitation by DC officials, they will remain defenseless, and at the mercy of thugs young entrepreneurial pharmaceutical distributors and gang members.
It’s a constitutional right regardless of whether or not the city succeeds at protecting drivers. The courts have already ruled that the “authorities” have no obligation to protect individuals. Remember the three young ladies in DC who were sodomized, raped and tortured for hours while the police took their own, sweet time getting to help them? The District’s highest court ruled the police do not have a legal responsibility to provide personal protection to individuals, and absolved the police and the city of any liability.
After a Supreme Court decision overturning a ban on handguns, D.C. residents may keep registered weapons in their place of business. But police and city officials say the workplace must be a “fixed location,” making it illegal for taxicab drivers to carry weapons.
Nathan Price, chairman of the D.C. Coalition of Taxicab Drivers, says the city’s 7,000 drivers aren’t sufficiently shielded. He says that if the city fails to protect drivers, then it’s a constitutional right “to carry a gun to protect yourself.”
Why shouldn’t they be held liable? They forcibly disarmed their citizens, were unable to protect them, and then were deemed innocent of any wrongdoing! It’s sick! And it continues.

A heavily armed cabbie population will result in a dramatic drop in compaints from black males that they cannot flag a cab at certain times in certain locations. This should work for everybody except the predators, which is why it must be nipped in the bud.
