I think that the “no blogging from work” rule can be suspended while I eat my lunch. It is my lunch hour, after all, and if something pisses me off this much, I should be able to take five minutes and write about it, right?
Yeah, I think so too.
Believe it or not, I’m not always the cold-hearted, cantankerous bitch that I appear to be on this site. I actually enjoy helping people. I think many of my friends will vouch for the fact that I’m pretty good about giving those I care about a hand when they hit hard times – sometimes to my own detriment. But I figure someone I love means a lot more to me than being able to buy that extra pair of shoes, and I also know that kind deeds eventually come back… well, most of the time, anyway.
So if I was rich – millionaire rich – and I had a friend or family member whom I loved living in a Boston project, working for the Boston Housing Authority as a resident health advocate for practically nothing, I’d certainly help them out… ESPECIALLY if said friend or family member sent what meager contribution they possibly could to my multi-million dollar presidential campaign!
Apparently Barack Obama’s “Auntie Zeituni” means so little to him, that he won’t even dip into his personal bank account to help the lady NOT live in the damn projects. No, he’d rather have her live off government “charity.”
Is this what Marx’s Soulmate calls “taking care of one another?” Is this his idea of being his “brother’s keeper?”
Judging by the fact that his real brother lives in poverty in some hovel in Kenya, I’d say Obama’s idea of a society that takes care of one another is government theft and redistribution. The government will take your money, and use it to “help” those less fortunate than you. Along the way, it will, of course, have to pay numerous bureaucrats, establish a plethora of agencies and wrap them up all nice and pretty in lots of red tape.
That’s Obama’s idea of “taking care of one another.”
My idea? Well, it’s slightly different.
It’s a group of neighbors getting together to help a family among them that has fallen on tough times, whose child is undergoing expensive cancer treatments.
It’s a group of families helping out a farmer ensure he had a crop this year.
It’s regular people establishing a fund for a family touched by tragedy.
It’s celebrities using their resources and talent to help those struck by natural disasters.
It’s certainly NOT stealing others’ earnings by force, and giving it to an entity that is so inept, it couldn’t even make a profit out of a sure thing enterprise like a whore house in Nevada!
But don’t tell that to Obama! It might mar the Hopeandchangitude he’s so proud of! How can people support such unbridled arrogance? This is a man who has the resources to take care of his family and then some, but he lets them languish, while he preaches how HE will tackle poverty, HE will change America, HE will preside over a government that will take care of your tired and your poor… using YOUR money.
It’s also instructive to look at the comments in the story. You have ardent Obama supporters who are just beyond stupid, and really don’t get the point of the story, or are intent on painting it as a non-story to protect their Messiah. “Why is this news?” they screech.
It’s news because apparently spreading the wealth around to help the poor only refers to your wealth, not his. It’s news because he has a family member living in public housing and can’t or won’t help her with his own earnings. It’s news because he has destitute family members who aren’t receiving a penny from his substantial personal wealth. And yet, taxpayers are expected to pay more to fund public housing so his aunt has somewhere to live.
THAT’s why this is news, assnuggets!
Any presidential candidate who will arrogantly claim that he’s going to be the impetus for change in this heartless, cruel, cold society that allows thousands to live without health insurance and thousands more to actually face the consequences of their stupid financial decisions, while callously ignoring his own flesh and blood as he sucks millions for his presidential campaign (including several small contributions from his aunt, who continues to support him even as he does nothing to support her) is not a viable option for his country.
Look to your own backyard, Barack! You’ve got family living in poverty while you cruise around the country vying for the highest office in the land paid for other people’s campaign contributions. Don’t tell me you can’t afford to help your own!
Take care of each other…
