Isn’t this just sweet? The President of the nation that is the epitome of freedom and the shining example for others all over the world and one of the world’s most repugnant dictators… if they were any cuddlier, there would be post-coital snuggling.

I’m not a big diplomat. I’m not one for superfluous niceties. I understand the necessity of following certain protocols. But this overt type of friendliness makes me nauseous. Chavez is not a choir boy. He’s a vicious, corrupt, power-hungry Marxist. His socialist policies are a failure and his reign is nothing if not corrupt and dangerous to the very concept of freedom. I don’t see why there has to be any courtesy whatsoever toward this moral fraud.
We don’t need to feign friendliness or camaraderie. We shouldn’t. This socialist swine is the antithesis of everything decent, and the President of the United States shouldn’t have to fake friendliness.
However, given the proclivities of the Magic Unicorn, I imagine the joy and camaraderie is wholly genuine.
But hey, at least he didn’t bow this time.

Nicki, to quote Tom DiLorenzo: “Nixon and Eisenhower shook hands with the mass murderer Kruschev, and Reagan all but kissed Gorbachev at a time when the Soviet empire still enslaved millions. Chavez is a nutcase and a tyrant, but comparing his crimes to the above-mentioned tyrants who were embraced by former Republican presidents is like comparing an ant to a wooly mammoth.”Not to mention that George Bush Jr. walked along holding hands with the Saudi king, in a country in which women are treated like chattel, and Shariah law is enforced by Virtue Police. But then, they’re all criminals. Criminals are often friendly with other criminals when they agree on the turf boundaries which delineate who they are allowed to rob and force at gunpoint.

Hans, and if you think I wasn’t disgusted by Bush Jr.’s love fest with the Saudis, you’re sadly mistaken. Conservatives castigated him for it, but I’m certainly not hearing any criticism from the left side of the aisle about Obama’s bow. And please don’t try to tell me about a false comparison here. I was born in the Soviet Union. I lived there during the 80s. I can see the disgusting comparisons between Chavez’s rule and the hell that was the USSR back then. The comparison is not only valid, but appropriate.
