US demand fuels spike in small arms trade: UN survey

So the UN puts out this report, saying basically that Americans are responsible for 450,000 deaths worldwide.  No, seriously… how else are we supposed to take this?

Ballooning US demand and the handgun’s surge in popularity drove up
the global trade in small arms by more than a quarter between 2000 and
2006, a UN-backed study showed Thursday.

Those weapons in the
hands of civilians, security forces or armed groups were behind the
deaths of 450,000 people, said the authors of the Small Arms Survey
2009.

Demand from the United States alone was responsible for 48 percent of the worldwide increase in imports, it found.

Leave it up to the shitstains at the United Nations to paint America as responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, and leave it up to the lamestream media to support this claim with doctored words!

Also leave it to the mediots to tout this particular lunacy as fact.

Christiane Agboton Johnson, assistant director of the UN Institute for
Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) told journalists: “Reducing the
availability of weapons helps to curtail criminal activity, from drug
trafficking and armed holdups, to organised prostitution.”

ORLY?

So violent crime tends to fall in the US wherever legally held guns are are allowed, and there is no proven scientific correlation between gun ownership and crime rates, but somehow the availability of guns is responsible for criminal activity… THERE’s some warped logic for you!

Leave it to the UN to blame its complete mission failure to make a fuzzy, peaceful world on its largest contributor and biggest supporter – the United States.

Tell me again, why we keep giving these people billions of dollars!
