Wow, maybe I was wrong! Maybe the Magic Marxist does excrete sunshine, rainbows and Skittles! Maybe there is justice in this murky old world of ours, even though it’s rainy, disgusting and gloomy today, which generally makes my hair look like something out of the den of Gorgon, no matter how amply I apply the hair straightener!
But I digress…
Tonight, Jess, Leanne, B and I went out to dinner. As we were inhaling a copious amount of really greasy food at Champps over at Pentagon Row, Jess got an email on her Crackberry, telling her the good news!
Did she win a million dollars?
No.
Did she get a marriage proposal from a hot cop wearing a skin-tight Underarmour t-shirt, a pair of ACUs, combat boots and a thigh-holster, containing a shiny new 1911?
No.
But she did receive word that William “Cold Cash” Jefferson was found guilty of 11out of 16 corruption charges! YES!!!
In the 16-count indictment, Jefferson was charged with solicitingbribes and other crimes for a series of schemes in which he helpedAmerican businesses broker deals in West African in exchange forpayments or financial considerations to companies controlled by membersof his family, including his brother Mose, his wife, Andrea, their fivedaughters and a son-in-law.
Jefferson, 62, who represented the New Orleans-based 2nd Congressional District for nine terms, will now face sentencing by Judge T.S. Ellis III,who earlier meted out stiff sentences for lesser figures in the case.According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Jefferson faced 235 years inprison if convicted on all counts, and will still face substantialprison time.
Now, if you remember, I was pretty damn pissed off when Ted Stevens, who really did nothing wrong accepted a metric dickload of improper gifts, somehow managed to escape prison time. I remember using some not-so-nice words about Stevens (as if this is an actual surprise to anyone who has been reading this blog for any length of time!), because there’s little that tweaks my wedgie more than official corruption on the part of those whom we trusted enough to put in office!
But this time is different. This time the scumbag actually got convicted, and considering that he didn’t even testify in his own defense, and his entire formal defense lasted only two hours, I’d think his lawyer pretty much gave up on trying to paint his client as an innocent victim of FBI entrapment.
I did get a chuckle out of his lawyer’s comment during closing arguments, however, claiming Dollar Bill was “a man whose dealings had placed him in an ethical ‘gray’ area, but who had not broken the law.”
He he he.
Yeah, and Ted Bundy didn’t really engage in necrophilia, since his victims’ bodies had not achieved room temperature yet at the time of intercourse.
Whatever.
In any case, my faith in the system has somewhat been restored.
Here’s hoping that jefferson spends a long, hard several decades in a very tight cell with a very angry, large, horny cellmate.
Now, if someone could just stuff Ted Stevens, John Murtha and some of the other corruptocrats into a small, dank hole….

A conviction is nice, but just like the last time we saw a conviction, I am more than willing to bet he won’t serve a moment of time in any kind of correctional facility.

Another Dem who thought he could get away with everything from corruption to murder. Obama will find a way to keep him from serving any time. Do I hear a “racial profiling” whine? God help us all. A bunch of crooks in the White House. Would the national debt be as high as it is if the Dems would only pay THEIR taxes? I would be in jail if I didn’t pay mine. I am sick of them all. They demand innocent babies killed and now want senior citizens to just shut up and die. What a bunch of pigs.
