I guess the pendulum has swung in the other direction. Whereas we’re used to certain groups screeching about being oh-so persecuted by the establishment, we’re used to these Victims-of-the-Month being allegedly “abused” because of their race, sexual orientation, religion, lack of religion and worship of organic squash.  Conservatives have generally been accused of perpetrating said “abuse” and have kept silent on the numerous abuses heaped upon them (especially lately) by the liberal supporters of diversity and tolerance (except for conservative, white, Christian males).

Conservative opponents of the current administration’s policies have been accused of racism, terrorism, extremism, etc. You name the “ism,” we’ve heard it.

But now the tide has turned, and conservatives are beginning to claim the victim status.

In this case, it’s “conservative media on trial.”  I generally like Michelle Malkin. She’s detailed and meticulous in her research, and generally presents the side of the story with which the mainstream media won’t bother.  But come on… Law & Order persecuting conservative media?

Really?

Reader Alex e-mails: “During the finale of ‘The Biggest Loser’ lastnight, NBC aired a promo spot for an episode of Law and Order where aconservative talk show host is put on trial for murder based oncreating a ‘climate of hate.’ I know you’ve covered this aspect of thecensus worker story…”

Indeed. I’ve written extensively on how the Left convicted prominentconservatives of the Kentucky census worker “murder” — which turned outto be a suicide and botched insurance hoax.

Now, it appears NBC’s “Law and Order” is going to use the case forits on infotainment purposes — right down to the “FED” in ink scrawledon a dead body. Yep, this grim case and the criminalization ofconservatism that it prompted will now be Hollywood fodder.

Stop already!  There’s no persecution of conservative media in the show!  It’s a show that bases its scripts on headline news, OK?  It’s not infotainment.  It’s a matter of art imitating life!  Law & Order does this particularly well.  It grabs headlines and bases the show on actual news!  This is nothing new and different for them. They’re basing the show on the fact that some moronic liberals kneejerked into accusing the entire conservative movement of murder in what turned out to be a case of a census worker having committed suicide in order to get insurance funds.

The writers aren’t making this up. That is exactly what happened. The Left all but convicted conservative media, talk radio, pundits, etc. of murdering a Kentucky census worker after he was found dead with “FED” written upon his carcass.  It’s appalling, but it’s true.  But the storyline develops from there, and it’s a pretty obvious one!  It has nothing to do with Law & Order’s “leftist” bent, and everything to do with the development of a storyline based on the actual headlines!

And oh goodness!  You should see the actual comments!  Talk about your kneejerks!

Conservatives must be doing something right for the left wing nuts to be freaking out like this.

Or it could be an attempt to hide the truth and frame conservitives [sic.] inthe eyes of the General population D1carter. Or squash it under guiltgiven that the truth to the Kentucky worker hasn’t really hit mainnetworks short of fox, NBC’s obvious political agenda withstanding.

I quit watching Law and Order years ago. They’ve always had a liberalslant but moved even further left over the last few years. Hope itbombs and this is it’s last season.

Perhaps all the writers are conservative-hating homosexuals?

People need to get a clue.  It’s fiction based on current headlines! It’s entertainment. I seriously doubt anyone is influenced by what Jack McCoy says on that show!  And if you are, you’re too stupid to be allowed to watch television!

Grow up, people!  This isn’t more persecution of conservatives!  This is television!  It’s entertainment!  It just happens to be entertainment based on current reality – following closely the actual events that occurred in this case.  Maybe if the Left hadn’t started accusing conservative media of killing the Kentucky census worker, Law & Order would have had to find another angle.

Conservatives today face a lot of challenges.  The GOP needs to find its voice and its moral ground. We’re faced with accusations of racism, violence, extremism, terrorism, you name it… Can we PLEASE stop inventing more crap and quit seeing the Conservative Persecution Boogie Man around every corner!

It was old when the liberals were doing it. It’s old now.

UPDATE:

I record Law & Order every week, and I just finished watching the episode in question. It was good.  Very good. Right down to depicting corrupt community organizers (yes, ACORN-like organizations), depicting their plans to take over white-owned businesses and redistribute them to those they felt were worthy, depicting adultery, cover-ups, fraud and embezzlement on the part of the community organizer organization.  No condemnation of the conservative media. No “right winger” responsible for the murder with the words “FED” written upon the chest of the victim. I will say they portrayed libertarians and opponents of the current leadership as anarchist assholes, so I wasn’t thrilled with that.  But the guilty parties in the end turned out to be the community organizers – not the nuts they portrayed as “right wingers.”

Do I think the show has a liberal slant?  Yes.

But it’s damn good entertainment, and I certainly wish those of us who oppose the policies of the current leadership in Washington would stop knee-jerking into spastic, drooling histrionics every time a television show appears as if it’s going to portray conservatives in a negative light.

You’re not victims, people!  Stop acting the part!
