L. Douglas Wilder epitomizes the African American success story.  He was the first African American to be elected governor of a state in the U.S. and the second to serve as one.  He was the grandson of slaves.  He lived through segregation.  He is a military veteran and a Bronze Star recipient.  And while I disagree with many of his policy views, including his participation in Bloomberg’s anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment and anti-Constitution Mayors Against Illegal Guns Freedom Coalition, I do honor his service and his accomplishments.

Doug Wilder is the latest Obama supporter who was fooled by the “Hope and Change” platitude.  He epitomizes the typical Obama voter, who cast a ballot for this inexperienced, ignorant, arrogant, snake oil salesman in a pretty suit, who promised them change, but didn’t have to specify what kind of change he planned.

I backed Obama not because of skin color but because he convincingly made the case that he stood for “change” that this country needs. Now,across many fronts — in public policy and politics alike — people have rightly been questioning whether the change has been for the better.Unfortunately, the answer so far is clear: not yet.

The question is: change from what?  As Michelle Malkin so aptly put a few days ago, it’s not like Bush was all that different.  A Republican corporate welfare statist/socialist vs. a Democrat corporate welfare statist/socialist.

1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;

2) massively expanded the federal role in education;

3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;

4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;

5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;

6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;

7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;

8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;

9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words, “abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system.”

So what was it that those who voted for Obama expected? Obama supports amnesty for illegal aliens. He’s exerting even more government control of education. Obama has used fuzzy math to lie to the country about the success of his economic policies.  Hell, he bowed to the Saudi king so low, we all began to wonder if oral sex would follow and cuddled in comfort with one of the world’s most odious dictators.  And we all know that Obama supports government control of health care and not only staffed his administration with corrupt cronies, but ensured that government policies favored his supporters

Additionally, Doug Wilder himself admits that the cronies are there because of their connections, not their abilities.

The changes must go much deeper. Obama’s West Wing is filled with people who are in their jobs because of their Chicago connections or because they signed on with Obama early during his presidential campaign.

One problem is that they do not have sufficient experience at governing at the executive branch level. The deeper problem is that they are not listening to the people.

Gee.  Where’s that change?  Looks to me like we’ve got a Bush clone with a “D” behind his name.  That makes me wonder if the people who voted for him really wanted change, or merely wanted a change in letter and a change in skin color.
