As I was driving to work yesterday morning, I was listening to talk radio – Grandy and Andy.  Fred Grandy (of the Love Boat and Congressional fame) was angry.  I don’t mean just a bit pissed off for the show’s sake – I mean HOT!  The commute was short yesterday, as I stayed in Arlington, but I caught enough of the show to understand why Grandy was pissed off.

Apparently, our Fearless Leader is taking the “high road” in the health care debate, and he’s calling for opponents to “tone it down.”

“Well, I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck,it’s pretty apparent, and it’s troublesome, but keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out,” Mr. Obama said. “It happens often when you’ve got an economy that is making people more anxious, and people are feeling like there is a lot of change that needs to take place. But that’s not the vast majority of Americans. I think the vast majority of Americans know that we’re trying hard, that I want what’s best for the country.” (video at left)

“I didn’t buy all the hype, right after inauguration, where everybody was only saying nice things about me,” he added. “And I don’t get too worried when things aren’t going as well because I know that over time these things turn.”

The president said both Democrats and Republicans have a responsibility to tone down the rhetoric, but that much of it has to do with the current media environment in which extreme comments are echoed in the blogosphere

Extreme comments.  Tone it down.  This is from the same man to basically told Republicans to “bring it”  during a smarmy, smug self-aggrandizing speech touting the costly, wasteful, Marxist health care bill he just signed into law.

This is from the same man who pushed the bill even though the majority of Americans opposed it.

This is from the same man whose party has tossed invective, lies and false accusations against opponents, accusing them of racism, extremism, bigotry and terrorism.

And he wants us to tone it down???

Let me tell you something, SIR!  I will not tone it down, and neither will the American people!

We put your ass in that seat you occupy in the White House!  We are your boss – you are not ours.

We the people demand accountability from you and other elected officials – we will not tolerate vainglorious victory laps around the nation, telling Americans they’ll eventually like measures imposed on them by power-hungry politicians, accusing opponents of distorting the facts, and sarcastic claims that somehow opponents claimed the Apocalypse would be upon us if the bill passed.

“So after I signed the bill, I looked around,” Mr. Obama said. “I looked up in the sky to see if asteroids were coming. I looked at the ground to see if cracks had opened up in the earth. But you know what? It turned out to be a pretty nice day. Birds were still chirping. Folks were strolling down the street. Nobody had lost their doctor. Nobody had pulled the plug on Granny. Nobody was being dragged away and forced into some government-run health care.”

And this from the man who wants US to tone it down?  The man who whips out the sarcasm about a tyrannical, statist bill whose effects won’t even be felt until a few years from now, but for which we will be paying much sooner is telling US to tone it down?

I don’t goddamn think so!

We are your employers, Mr. President!  Did you somehow forget that?  Did you forget that you were elected by the American people?  Did you forget that you and your party have a duty to We the People?

Most of us opposed this monstrosity of a bill.  We made calls.  We protested. We sent you letters.  We did everything in our power to remind you that you work for us and that we, as your employers, oppose what you’re doing.

You didn’t listen.

You ignored the calls of the very people who pay your salary.  You ignored those who hired you.  You ridiculed them.  You arrogantly challenged them.  And now you have the nerve to tell us to “tone it down?

I don’t goddamn think so, you supercilious, smarmy toerag!

You’d better start remembering just who hired you, and just who your boss is.

The majority of the people were stupid enough to elect you in November of 2008.  You’d better start being grateful for their ignorance and their eagerness to put their hopes and dreams in the hands of an inexperienced, cocky redistributionist, and stop acting like you know better than they do what is good for them!  And contrary to what you and your morally corrupt pals believe, your victory in November does NOT give you carte blanche to impose any type of tyranny on us that you desire!

So, no – we’re NOT going to tone it down.

We are going to stand up and protest louder and harder than ever, because it is our duty.

We’re going to continue opposing you with every fiber of our being, because that is our right.

We are not going to “tone it down,” because what you and your Democrat cohorts have done is ethically corrupt, ignorant and irresponsible, as well as reprehensible and repugnant to every principle of a limited, representative government.

So don’t tell US to tone it down!  You are not our daddy, and you are not our keeper, no matter how hard you try to pretend you’re both.  We will say and do what is necessary to oppose your statist schemes

You want to chain us, enslave us, appropriate our earnings and force us to pretend that you’re doing it for our own good, and you want us to keep silent about it?

I don’t think so.

I think what you will hear in the next couple of years is We the People speaking up louder and angrier than ever.

Whether or not you listen to us is your choice.  Whether or not you achieve another term in office is ours.
