If the government doesn’t obey the law then there is absolutely no reason we should obey the law either.  The point is not that we may be justified in taking the law into our own hands.  That was settled long ago.  The point is we may be compelled to do so.

That is profoundly sad for at least two reasons.  The rule of law is extremely precious.  That is the first reason.  The second is that the current government thinks most American’s won’t get off the couch.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the current crop of politicians. Americans can barely be bothered to get into a voting booth, let alone do a little research and cast an informed vote. They take the path of least resistance, vote for a name that sounds familiar or for the legisleech who will give them the most goodies – goodies that don’t belong to them. That’s how the current band of assholes got where they got.

Additionally, civil disobedience requires courage, and I’m afraid that’s something that your average couch potato just doesn’t have.
