How’s supporting those revolutionaries working out?
Apparently, the natives are restless because someone in the US has produced an anti-Islam movie.
Ergo, they must. kill. everyone.
Including the US Ambassador to their third-world shithole.
The United States ambassador to Libya, J. Christopher Stevens, was killed in a rocket attack on the U.S. Consulate in the city of Benghazi on Tuesday, President Obama said Wednesday.
[...]
The other three victims were American security staff, said a contractor working at the mission, who asked not to be named for security reasons.
RIP, Mr. Stevens.

The fact that the Libyans and Egyptians did not wake up to the sound of explosions and the road of our departing strike fighters is, in itself, an abomination. They should all be sitting around going “Achmed! The lights! They do not come on!” and “Mohammed, why does the water not flow from the taps?” and then they should notice the big smoking holes where their power plants and water treatment facilities used to be.

Apparently, the ambassador was guarded by local security forces and not marines (!), and these people in charge of protecting him moved him to a supposedly safer and more secure location within the compound and then indicated to the militants where they could find him.

If this isn’t a foreign policy failure, I don’t know what is. We are reliving the carter years all over again.

Karen, that’s normal. The host nation is responsible for providing diplomatic security. Just as we do for their personnel here if they request.

I’m getting old. I remember the days when more than 2 Marines guarded our embassies. Maybe we should go back to those days.

Oh, the Embassies are still guarded by Marines. But diplomatic security is something else.
