You guys remember Virginia Delegate Joe Morrisey, right? The violent thug who seeks to impose an “assault” weapons ban on his fellow Virginians, even though he was disbarred for a series of fist fights and disorderly conduct back in 2001 and only recently got his law license back?
Maybe Joe is projecting when he thinks that his fellow Virginians are as violent and criminal as he is when he tries to infringe on their rights. Maybe he’s just a petty, tyrannical, socialist satchel of whale vomit.
We don’t know his motivation.
What we do know is that he’s a moron, who is given to petty theatrics on the House floor, but only succeeds in making himself look incompetent and ignorant, while proving the only person who should be prohibited from handling firearms is him.

Maybe Joe should consider introducing a ban on assault fists. After all, he attacked his victim, screaming “I’m going to kill you! I’m going to beat your head in,” and then proceeded to smash his head into the corner of a brick wall when his prey tried to escape.

“House Bill 2207: Sponsored by Delegate Joseph Morrissey (D-74), HB 2207 would prohibit certain semi-automatic (pseudo “assault”) rifles and magazines capable of holding more than twenty rounds from being imported, sold, bartered or transferred.”
Defeated last night (1/18/13) in the House Militia, Police and Public Safety Subcommittee. My understanding is it was a bi-partisan unanimous vote.

I couldn’t be more happy, as I already have a great life, to read today that HB2207 was passed by indefinitely last night. This yet again reinforces my faith in Virginia’s good sense regarding the insidious encroachment on the rights of the American People – not only their second Amendment rights, but many others. It makes me one proud Virginian!
Perhaps you might want to look at a REAL approach to preventing tragedies like the Newtown Shooting, which by my estimation has been tampered with by media and possibly members of our government to promote an agenda. My suggestions are as follows:
National Level: Amend the NCLB Act to include a nationally standardized mental assessment of each child in our Public Schools. Upon discovering psychopathic traits, tendencies to commit bullying, tendencies to be a victim of such, or any sort of psychological difficulties, simply do what is already done with a student that has difficulty in a subject like Mathematics – offer a different direction for the student. This wouldn’t cost much more than the NCLB is already costing us.
State/Local Level: Offer municipalities assistance and legal rights to hire additional security at schools, and require all schools to drill these individuals as frequently as fire drills, taking care that the drills are conducted when students are there, if necessary. There are three months during the summer that no one is around. There are many CHP holders in every county – allow school boards to create a volunteer reaction force for such acts of terrorism. Invariably and often tragically our underfunded Sheriff’s Departments find themselves on the other side of the county when a major incident occurs – many citizens have Military-grade but legal weapons capable of repelling or ending such attacks on our children, and can be ready with them in minutes. Have we not learned anything from 9/11? We declare our schools to be “Gun Free” zones, making them more like “Target-Rich environments”. This is ridiculous! Sooner or later our foreign perpetrators will discover what a soft underbelly we have, and exploit it! Would you rather be ready for it, or react to it foolishly, standing on the graves of the innocent victims, as has been your course?
That is all that need be done, instead of further debilitating the public. In my county we have had an armed Deputy since 9/11. Our school camera systems will soon be directly connected to the Sheriff’s Department, giving us a strong tactical advantage against any kind of threat. Our Deputy is local, well known, and dresses casually. The kids look up to him – they don’t fear him. We need another for our Elementary School, and will certainly get one.
I really can’t understand the logic or reason of those like you who would use the media to call yourselves “the Majority”, when in fact you only represent a very small group of people whose intent is uncertain at best. I can tell you, and certainly will tell others that anyone that wishes to preserve the Constitution and have it not be interpreted or maligned, are far more of a majority than you claim. We were fooled in 1994 – we won’t get fooled again.
I always see pundits whining that no-one needs “weapons of war”, or “Assault Weapons”, or “High Capacity Magazines”, and that no one can justify owning anything of the sort, but I have a very straightforward and non-refutable answer to that:
The reason for legally owning, practicing with, and securing these tools is to protect the American People and ourselves from those who support any infringement of individual rights. It is not simply a right to do this, it is a duty.
