An Army veteran was arrested in Watertown for possession of AR-15 magazines.
Nathan H. Haddad, 32, of 25240 Waddingham Road, town of LeRay, faces five felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was released without bail before town of Watertown Justice Andrew N. Capone, and is ordered to appear Wednesday in town of LeRay Court.
Deputies made the arrest shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Steinhilber Road in the town of LeRay, where Mr. Haddad is accused of possessing five 30-round AR-15 magazines of ammunition. He is cited under a state penal law statute that prohibits possession of “a large capacity ammunition feeding device.”
An injured Army vet, who until now has never been arrested. Involved with his church. Volunteers with the Boy Scouts. All this according to someone who knows him.
And yet, unlike media maggot David Gregory, this military veteran will be treated like nothing but a common criminal for mere possession of some magazines.
Is this the type of person you want to make in to a criminal, Gov. Cuomo?
Is this whom you were hoping to snag in your little unconstitutional dragnet?
Is this the man from whom you want to make an example? Is he whom you want to vilify? Does he pose a danger to the public?
The obvious answer here is “NO!” But that doesn’t seem to matter to the tyrannical politicians in New York, who only care about pretending to do “something” about the problem in order to get themselves re-elected.

Consequence? No. Part of the plan? Absofuckinglutely.

You know what Nicki? Everyone with a conscience needs to immediately divest any financial holdings from New York. If people have property there and are paying taxes, then they are paying the salaries of these petty tyrants. Don’t travel there and spend money, don’t work there and pay taxes, and if you have property there sell it. It is too bad that the wonderful people who live upstate are victims of these scoundrels, most who call New York City home.

It should be noted that Gun Shy supports ALL Law Enforcement who keep their sworn oath. I have absolutely zero respect for those who do not, and in my opinion they are no longer trustworthy and open to close scrutiny and discussion.

For the readers who do not know, the Watertown area is where Fort Drum is, which is the home of the Tenth Mountain Division. There are a lot of current and former military living in that area.

the only way to beat this situation, is for everyone in waterford and the surrounding areas to show up at court time with a ar-15 magazine and demand that they be put in jail……..
Jan 31, 2013 @ 19:16:08
If the man is smart he will LEAVE New York as fast as possible.
Get to a state where magazine capacity isn’t even on the radar screen, North Dakota is hurting for oil field workers BTW.
DARE the NY authorities to issue that bench warrant.
I’d be safe in saying that any attempt at extradition would be laughed out of the courthouse.
Of course, it goes without saying that he can never return to NY, but then, I’ve never been there myself and can see no reason to even go there anyway

Spent a couple years at Drum, not surprised at all by this; disappointed definately…

new york already had a 10 round limit. this is not related to the new law (7 rounds)
Jan 31, 2013 @ 20:06:40
No. The new law bans the possession of a mag that can hold more than 10 rounds. 10 round mags are permissible but cannot contain more than 7 rounds.

Let’s take a look at the men responsible for pushing these not only draconian, but clearly unconstitutional gun control laws, that are now threatening to possibly incarcerate and ruin this young man’s life who served with honor.
Andrew Cuomo: No military service
Charles Schumer: No military service
Michael Bloomberg: deferment (Vietnam)
Joe Biden: five time deferment (Vietnam)
Bill Clinton: deferment (Vietnam)

I grew up in upstate NY and still have family there. I ran away to join the Army when I was 17 and I haven’t looked back since. While I love the state I grew up in and its beautiful scenery (Finger Lakes, Adirondaks) I could absolutely NEVER live there again. I still have familial obligations to visit (for weddings and funerals), I am not all that close with the dyed in the wool liberal family members who live there, so I don’t visit there often. This is just another reason not to go back. It’s a shame, too. Upstate is so beautiful.

I live in upstate, was at the rally the 19th and let me say Cuomo is a scumbag that has his hands in everything. He was the States Atty General before being governor. This gun issue was in his head WAAAY before becoming governor He owns half of Albany. I am ashamed to say i was born here. Grew up in AZ and thought it would be a good thing to move back to where my roots were. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. 114 yrs of hell man. Everyone in Ny needs to not pay their taxes and really hit them where it hurts. no money, no support. the people gave the government the right to exist not the other way around!!

Unfortunately it’s what is going to have to happen. Someone has to be arrested and tried in court for possessing a high-capacity magazine. That someone then can challenge the law, appeal the conviction (for that someone will be convicted at trial), and get this to the USSC.
Where, if recent precedents are honored, the New York law will be tossed.
But someone has to (pardon the pun) ‘bite the bullet’.

I don’t trust SCOTUS. one word: ObamaCare.

Speaking of criminals, how about closely examining Gov.Cuomo’s work at HUD during the Clinton administration. Oh, that’s right, he has the magic D after his name. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

HMMM….Looking around the net and one of the stories states that he was pulled over for “a vehicle check”. Doesn’t sound like probable cause to me. I could be wrong because I dont think New York exists on this planet. When you cross the state line you are teleported to another planet. I would like everyone to look up the Kentuckey Resolutions of 1798. These were in response to the alien and sedition acts and back when legislators packed a spine.

‘Vehicle checks’ are common methods for fishing expeditions these days.Even NASA gate guards(think three stooges in a bad Joe Besser episode) do pointless ‘vehicle checks’ trying desperately to find anything illegal to justify the huge amount of money spent on ‘security’.The government at all levels has taken it upon itself to subject we,the people to the whims of they, the paranoid bureaucrats. We could save trillions and fund the military we need, the social security we promised, and fix the border we have to close without the us vs them attitude and spending of the current panic driven security state. The attack on guns rights is intended to be only the beginning.
