American journalists and academics lie about guns

After the horrific massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Ezra Klein came out with hoplophobic tripe to promote his gun control views. I fisked the column at the time, hoping to dispel some misleading and downright biased claims.

I thought I had done a decent enough job, but this guy… He slams a home run so beautiful, that it can only be described as a full-on intellectual throat punch not just to Klein, but also to the “academic” he cites in a portion of another article that deals with Switzerland and Israel’s gun culture. An academic who is either incompetent or outright dishonest. Read the piece and decide for yourselves whether Dr. Janet Rosenbaum is a liar or a hack.

By your own admission your conclusions about Swiss firearms law are based on your own translation of the French and German versions of the “Bundesgesetz über Waffen, Waffenzubehör und Munition” (“Swiss Federal Law on Weapons, Weapon Accessories and Ammunition”), which your research cites repeatedly. Based on the conclusions you arrive at in your research it seems apparent that your foreign language skills leave much to be desired.

Ouch!

Almost nothing at all that you claim as fact about Swiss firearms law is true. Literally, no material point you have been making in public (3 month permit renewals, proof of “need” requirements to purchase firearms) in support of the premise that Swiss firearms regulation is “strict gun control” is correct.

Oops!

In fact, despite your absurd claims that ownership of firearms in Switzerland is “rare,” the same data shows that Swiss civilians are better armed than the populations of Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Kosovo, Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Libya, Mexico, Guatemala, South Africa, Pakistan, Jordan, Brazil, Nicaragua, Iran, El Salvador, Mozambique, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Laos, Chad, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. Perhaps now is a good moment to remind you once again that you cite the same report from which these figures are drawn repeatedly in your research?

Of course, it is habit among lazy scholars to attribute high rates of private ownership of firearms in Switzerland to the “militia.” Unfortunately for those who argue this point, it is demonstrably false.

Admittedly, it is often difficult to get a handle on the total number of privately held firearms in Switzerland. This is because not all firearms have to be registered here.

I’m trying to figure out what kind of intellectual dishonesty, lack of integrity or just plain laziness and incompetence could explain this.

Are gun grabbers so desperate they must resort to false claims, fabrications and distortions to promote their agenda?

I have friends and family members with whom I grew up and went to school, who not only believe the media’s outright lies and the false equivalencies, poor research and biased studies promoted by today’s academics – people like Rosenbaum, Hemenway, Miller and Kellerman – but they spew said lies and discrepancies as justifications for relieving ME of my rights.

And they use tragedy, blood, graphic violence and emotional manipulation to promote their agenda.

To them I say: family and friends – I love you and cherish you. I would protect you from violence with my very life if I had to. But you are wrong. Dead wrong. Your views are wrong, based on faulty premises and hysterical rhetoric promoted by the media and their academic whores. I don’t hate you. I love you. But I hate what you stand for, and I will debate, explain and cajole to allow you to see just how wrong you really are.

And I will fight you and your pet politicians and their thugs with everything I have.

So if you think you have the guys and endurance to fight this fight, go for it.

Zero tolerance stupidity, part thee… oh hell, I don’t know!

So we’ve read about kids getting suspended and expelled from school for having butter knives, drawing guns, pointing fingers menacingly and wielding chicken fingers in a threatening manner.

But this is a first! A three-year-old deaf boy forced to change the way he signs his name, because his name is…

Hunter.

A deaf preschooler in Grand Island, Nebraska, has been prohibited from signing his own name because school administrators believe the gesture he uses looks too much like a gun.

“He’s deaf, and his name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy,” Hunter Spanjer’s father Brian told Channel 10/11.

The layers of stupid in this story are thicker than Chris Christie’s waistline!

Unsurprisingly, the school has a “strict zero-tolerance sense policy.” They claim they’re working with the parents on a compromise.

A COMPROMISE???

They want to stop a deaf child from using Signing Exact English to give his own name, because someone somewhere in this braindead administration has decided his little, tiny hands resemble those evil gun things used by mean men who kill Bambi’s mom when he signs his name, and they’re talking COMPROMISE???

Here’s your compromise, douchenozzles: you shut the fuck up, let the child sign his name, and stop soiling your collective diapers over nothing. Then you go away and never darken the sight of anyone with a shred of common sense ever again!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock today, you’ve probably heard this soshul studees publik skool teechur Tanya Dixon-Neely verbally attack her student for allegedly “disrespectin da prezident.”

This student’s “crime?”

The argument began when the classroom began discussing news reports that likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney bullied a fellow student when he was in high school.

“Didn’t Obama bully somebody though?” a student in the classroom asked, referring to an incident Obama described in his memoir “Dreams from My Father.”

The teacher said she did not know, and the argument quickly escalated as the teacher yelled at the student, telling him “there is no comparison.”

“He’s running for president,” she said of Romney. “Obama is the president.”

The student argued that both candidates are “just men,” but the teacher said, “Let me tell you something … you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom.”

Just listen to this ignorant twunt!

She’s shouting at this student, who is merely asking a question about the President’s admitted bullying of a young girl in his school days!

She’s accusing said student of disrespecting the President, even though the student did no such thing by pointing out that criticism of both Romney and Obama is protected by the Constitution.

Apparently it’s a crime to point out that both Romney and Obama are just men. Oh NOEZ!!!  Zero is the second coming of the Messiah! Didn’t you know?

Just listen to this screeching, double negative-spewing, ignorant shrew attack her student! Just listen to her spew falsities about the First Amendment, and after you have finished being appalled at this sow, remember…

This pernicious hemorrhoid is teaching children. She’s teaching children SOCIAL STUDIES. She’s teaching them that criticizing the President can get them arrested. She’s actually lying in an effort to threaten her student, telling him that people were arrested during Bush’s presidency for criticizing the Commander-in-Chief.

Where did this shrieking banshee get its teaching certificate? Online diploma mill?

Is it any wonder our high schools are graduating drooling ignorants who can barely spell their own names, have no clue who the Vice President is, and couldn’t point out France on a map?

Is it any wonder they turn 18 and cast their votes without thought… without research… without questioning what dumb fascist sows like this one figuratively beat into their heads in class?

How does a social studies teacher not know that the purpose of the First Amendment is to prevent exactly the type of punishment for political speech she claims will take place if you criticize the government?

How does a social studies teacher not know or understand the definition of “slander?”

How does a social studies teacher get so mired in her own political ideology, she refuses to objectively teach her students?

And worse yet… why has this fascist sow not been fired?

Why is she suspended WITH PAY?

Why does she get to sit home and enjoy the taxpayer money she receives for doing nothing but indoctrinating her students and verbally abusing those who will not goosestep to her adoration of der Fuhrer in der White House?

Why does she continue to receive taxpayer dollars, even as she lies to, abuses and bullies those kids in her class who voice disagreement with her frothing adulation of Teh One™ – the same kids whose parents pay this fetid, bloated, bovine bitch’s salary?

Time to rid the school of this disease.

Wut iz our childrunz larnin?

In a world where kids are apparently taught erroneous information about the concept of freedom and government, where school administrators try to prevent children from displaying the American flag for fear it will offend some illegal alien scum, where eco zealotry replaces real science, where schools attempt to suspend little kids for playing with Legos that happen to have a toy firearm and where education has gotten so watered down, that teachers are afraid to fail students for fear of hurting their little feelings, but would rather award them an “H,” one would think that an actress reading to a group of 1st graders would be welcomed.

Not so much.

We have parents in this country who refuse to even take a look at what their kids are learning at school, who demand that evolution be treated by schools as a “theory,” and creationism as “science,” and who demand that their Precious Punkins not be emotionally scarred by a failing grade, but who are enough familiar with the porn world that they complain about a former porn actress promoting reading to children.

Earlier Friday, news broke that  a Los Angeles area elementary school is facing some major criticism from parents after the district invited [Sasha] Grey to read to a group of first graders as part of the Read Across America program.

Until I read this story, I had no idea who Sasha Grey was, but apparently, she’s a “porn legend,” according to TMZ.

OK, whatever. She’s also quit the industry and transitioned to mainstream acting. Big deal.

Apparently it is to these parents, who are all bent out of shape that a girl who won the “2010 AVN award for best anal sex scene — was invited to read books to 1st graders at an L.A.-area elementary school last week.”

I have a question:  Did the school reveal to the tykes that Ms. Grey took it up the ass for adult entertainment? Did they identify her as a porn star? Would the 1st graders even know what porn is, or whether Ms. Grey was the one in the clip daddy was watching on his office computer?

Probably not.

What they did was invite a very pretty girl who (aside from having done porn) has also appeared in mainstream roles to read to a bunch of little kids – to promote literacy, which is something this nation desperately needs, judging by what kind of barely coherent assholes graduate publik skools these days.

Notice, she didn’t bring her dildo collection, her porn industry award or DVDs of her previous work.  As a matter of fact, what I see here is a pretty wholesome-looking girl enjoying some reading time with little kids.

How many Hollyweird stars take the time to do that?

And yet, parents, who apparently know who Sasha Grey is, have decided it’s wholly inappropriate to have her come read to their children.

To Ms. Grey’s credit, she refuses to back down and wants to continue to be a positive influence on children.

“I am an actor. I am an artist. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a partner. I have a past that some people may not agree with, but it does not define who I am.

“I believe in the future of our children, and I will remain an active supporter and participant in education-focused initiatives.”

And what I find even more appalling is that the school refuses to acknowledge that she was even there, despite photos obtained by TMZ such as the one above.

Cowards.

What I see is a young woman determined to turn her future around while helping others.

What these parents see is a porn star trying to corrupt their children.

What the school administrators see is a potential lawsuit from said clueless parents.

There’s only one player in this drama that I think has any character or integrity, and that’s the chick who got an award for taking it up the ass.

Go figure.

Ich bin creeped out

For several reasons.

1 – A 60-year old woman is taking a college freshman human sexuality course. Kind of creepy.

[Karen] Royce, 60, is a medical technician who’s working toward a degree in social work. She said she enrolled in the freshman-level Human Sexuality class, which fulfills a social science requirement, based on the description of the class in the course catalog. It says the class covers topics such as gender, sexual anatomy, sexually transmitted diseases and commercial sex, among others.

2 – Teacher assigned students masturbation homework.

Royce said the course began with a discussion of different sexual positions, and she said the instructor went on to assign students to double their normal masturbation routine over the course of two weeks and write journals about their experiences.

After Royce told the instructor she doesn’t masturbate (WTF is wrong with her???  Seriously??? Does it dry up and fall off at 60? And if it does, please someone kill me before I reach that unhappy milestone!), “He became angry and ordered the class to masturbate if they intended to pass the class.” — BEST. LINE. EVAR.

3 – Dude’s bordering on somewhat disturbing voyeurism by asking for pictoral depictions of one’s orgasms.

Other journal assignments in Kubistant’s class included requiring female students to write “your views of your breasts and vulva,” and the instruction: “Your orgasms. Draw them!“

Dammit, I’m not rich enough to drive a Volvo! Oh… that other…

Um…

Look, unless you’re pathetically repressed, a picture of your own orgasm should resemble something that’s drawn by a blind, somewhat spastic toddler who hasn’t taken his Ritalin. On an etch-a-sketch.  In the dark.

If it looks like anything else, you’re doing it wrong!

But in all seriousness… couldn’t the instructor have given an alternate assignment to a student who’s obviously too old and crotchety to be flicking the bean?  Hell, other professors in other colleges apparently do it.

Kenneth Locke teaches a similar class at the University of Idaho, and he also assigns students to write about some of their own experiences.

However, he said, students turn in assignments using a corresponding number as a means of remaining anonymous. He said students are also able to opt out of an assignment if it’s too uncomfortable, and academic alternatives are given for larger assignments.

“In these types of classes, it’s important to provide students with alternatives,” Locke said. “The important thing is it not feel coercive.”

I wouldn’t expect much different from a class that is described in the catalog as:

Covers major topics in human sexuality such as gender, sexual anatomy, sexually-transmitted diseases, sexual response and disorders, sexual orientation, sexual coercion, and commercial sex.

I suppose forcing a 60-year-old to learn to rub one out against her will could be part of the “sexual coercion” topic. But on the other hand, really… if she hasn’t learned it yet, she won’t.  That train has left the station, so to speak.  Assign something else, will ya?  She shouldn’t have to go digging around for a clitoris just to pass a human sexuality course at a public college, ferpetessake!
