Tom Gear: Out Of Line… And Apparently Off His Rocker

As everyone in Virginia politics knows, this weekend is the Republican Party of Virginia state convention. In the last week, a gnarled up, washed up crank of a former Delegate, Tom Gear (R-Hampton) has been pushing out emails about the Republican candidates for Lieutenant Governor. He apparently sent out his own questionnaire to all of them, and the questions were…not worded favorably. That is, except to Gear’s old friend from the General Assembly, Scott Lingamfelter. He made that one quite a bit easier.

Only three candidates responded. Those were Scott Lingamfelter, Jeannemarie Davis, and Susan Stimpson. His emails have had the title of “Taking (candidate name) To The Woodshed” in the case of those who didn’t respond to his questionnaire. He first attacked E.W. Jackson for his lack of experience… And his personal financial troubles. That’s rich, considering Del. Gear’s own sketchy financial problems. I bet he didn’t count on anyone doing a little research of their own, did he? He went on to attack Susan Stimpson, who in my judgment, fared pretty well in answering his survey and setting him straight about some pretty obvious distortions. He responded by attacking her:

she comes across as a “angry soccer mom”, in showng her disdain for the Transportation plan passed Susan turned on those that helped gain her seat in public office and that alone troubles me greatly. Susan Stimpson greatest problem is she has fallen in with the extreme Libertarian fringe of the Republican Party and these are the folks that have proven to be the downfall for our nominees.

This tells me where Gear is coming from. He wants the Republican Party of Virginia to keep doing what it’s been doing. How has that worked out for us?
He also attacked Davis for her answers, granted, she’s an easy target. And he attacked Pete Snyder for not answering, and as readers of this blog know, that’s no big trick either. He’s clearly out to boost Lingamfelter, and I have no doubt that’s how he got the email contact list he’s been pushing out this nonsense to.

The Republican Liberty Caucus of Virginia sent out a survey to every Republican candidate for statewide office. We didn’t attack anyone for their answers or failure to respond. This is politics at its worst. In sum, Gear is just trying to draw attention to himself and help Lingamfelter by trashing everyone else. He needs to shut his yap. Hard.

Media Maggot Still Off the Hook

The indefatigable Emily Miller tells us that Media Maggot David Gregory is still getting away with committing a criminal act in Washington DC – knowingly and willingly, in fact. As you may remember, Gregory asked DC officials permission to use the high capacity magazine on his show as a prop to push his odious gun control agenda, and losing any pretense of objectivity in the process.

DC officials refuse to prosecute Gregory, even as they ruined the life of a young military veteran. And the saga continues today. Emily says her requests to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the Office of Attorney General (OAG) to turn over the documents in the Media Maggot’s™ case were ignored, so she used a Freedom of Information Act request, which yielded nothing but public documents.

So I wrote separate extensively-detailed FOIA request to the attorney general, MPD and Mayor Vincent Gray. The police and prosecutor responded with a large amount of documents — 75 percent of them were useless to me (every public email and news story) and seemed to be an effort to bury me in paper. The rest was heavily redacted with big black marks.

On Monday, I got a press release from Judicial Watch announced it has filed a FOIA lawsuit against MPD and OAG on behalf of the Legal Insurrection blog. In reading through the documents that were not turned over, I noticed there was one that I had gotten — the Jan. 9 letter from the NBC’s lawyer Lee Levine to D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan.

I called William A. Jacobson, the lead author of the legal blog, to tell him I had that letter. “I am shocked that the D.C. attorney general would withhold from us the letter from David Gregory’s attorney using a claim of FOIA exemption, and force us to go to court, when they already gave the letter to another person,” Mr. Jacobson, a clinical professor at Cornell Law School, told me.

I emailed him the Levine letter. He sent back a Feb. 20 email from Victor Bonett in the attorney general’s office that said, “OAG is withholding the Jan. 9, 2013 letter from Lee Levine and certain responsive emails between OAG and MPD, pursuant to D.C. Official Code Section 2-534(a)(3)(A)(i), (a)(4) and (e).”

So new information revealed that the Media Maggot™ “borrowed a magazine from a private citizen who lives outside DC, and that he supposedly returned the item to its owner.

It’s interesting to me that a private citizen who owns such a magazine would let the Media Maggot™ borrow it to promote its ban.

But what’s even more interesting is that the claim that the magazine was returned to its owner immediately following the show is a blatant lie.  A January 9 a police “property record” document says “a Kay Industries 30-round magazine was recovered from Mr. Gregory (at a redacted address) as part of an active investigation.”  January 9, 2013 is two days after the magazine supposedly had been returned to its owner.

Other lies are also cropping up in this case, and still the Media Maggot™ goes free, with not a single stain to his pristine record, while regular citizens get slammed by the law for exercising their rights.

Hypocrite Uncle Fester lookalike brags about gun control

According to The Hill, “Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), said Sunday that passing expanded background checks would be a ‘huge success’ for gun-control advocates and that his wife was ‘reenergized’ about heading to Washington next week to lobby lawmakers.

I’m completely disgusted with his use of his wounded wife as a prop for his political agenda! She’s not an organ grinder’s monkey, Mark! She’s a human being, who was harmed by a psycho, and you’re using her much like Sarah Brady uses her spouse to push an odious, rights-destroying agenda.

Of course, expanding background checks would be a “huge success” for you blood-sucking leeches! By forcing private sellers to use FFLs to conduct background checks on single, private transactions, you will put an unnecessary burden on FFLs, increase the costs for individuals and succeed in essentially outlawing private firearms purchases! And that’s exactly what you want.

Giffords have been vocal advocates for gun control since she was shot in the head at a constituent event in 2011.

Of course that didn’t stop Kelly from hypocritically attempting to purchase an AR-15 – the very “assault” weapon he’s working on banning – and then lying about the purchase.

Kelly said his wife was “now reenergized you know by being involved in something that will improve people’s lives.”

I’m curious how infringing on the rights of Americans, making it more difficult and costly to make a constitutionally protected purchase, and likely infringing on their privacy rights is “improving people’s lives,” but then again, many of us don’t live in nice, cushy dream worlds.

Kelly also praised the families of victims of the Newtown Conn. mass shooting, who headed to Washington this week to personally lobby lawmakers.

“Statistics are one thing, but real people meeting in a congressman or congresswoman’s office, it’s a real connection to how violence, gun violence in particular, affects people in our country,” he said.

“I think it’s incredibly impactful, I hope they get the opportunity to meet every member of Congress before we come up on these votes.”

And it will be more costly and inconvenient to exercise your rights if this bill passes!

Under current law, background checks are required for sales only by licensed retailers. The director of the top trade group for gun retailers said expanding checks to include Internet and gun show purchases will drive up prices and push business to federally licensed firearms retailers, who in many cases will perform the checks for private sellers.

“You’re going to have a lot more people paying a lot more money,” said Andrew Molchan, director of the Florida-based Professional Gun Retailers Association Inc.

If background checks are required for all sales, he said, federal licensees could effectively corner the market, set their own transaction fees and pass the costs on to consumers.

Not only does this hypocritical douchesack trot his wounded wife out for all to see, as he stumps for a tyrannical agenda on his way to running for public office, but he props up families who have lost children in Newtown, as if their views and votes should count more than anyone else’s.

I wonder if trotting out the millions of people who have defended themselves with firearms for the Congressleeches to examine like museum pieces – thousands… hell… probably millions who have protected their loved ones and themselves – and probably scores more who have been persecuted for their defensive use of firearms by statist shitbrains – would make their opinion count more? Probably not. They’re not tragedies. Lives have been saved. Therefore, the emotion factor is just not as strong.

It makes me sick that somehow the voices of people who have experienced a tragedy like losing a loved one count more than those of us who managed to survive encounters with violent thugs. I’m sickened that the voice of the would-be rape victim who successfully defended herself doesn’t resonate as loudly as the voice of the parent who lost a child. Do we really have to be raped, killed or otherwise victimized for legislators to listen to us?

Maybe had this woman been able to carry a defensive tool, she would still have been alive and her little girl wouldn’t have been raped by this scumbag who cut the electronic monitoring device off his ankle and destroyed them.

But that doesn’t matter to Kelly, who apparently sees gun control and his injured wife as political tools to get him into public office.

Being victims of tragedy shouldn’t give people more pull. We’re a nation of equals… or we’re supposed to be.

Mark Kelly tries to intimidate Republican Senators who actually have the guts to protect our rights

“Don’t stand in the way of MY process, Senators! All dangerous EVVVILLLLL ‘assault weapons’ must be banned! Well, except for mine.”

Yup… the same winner who’s been using his wife as a prop to try and abrogate our Second Amendment rights, even as he purchases the very same weapons he wants out of our hands (on an ‘impulse buy’… Sure, Mark.), doesn’t like that Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and others are actually planning to stand in the way of his totalitarian agenda.

“They should listen to their constituents and certainly shouldn’t be getting in the way of the process, which is to debate the bill and to vote on the bill,” Kelly said.

“It doesn’t make any sense and I imagine that at some point, if they actually do this, their constituents will hold them accountable for those actions,” he added.

Listen to this guy. ‘Getting in the way of the process’? You’re right… how dare these men use the powers they have at hand to defend the Constitution from your emotionally-driven selfish whiny hypocrisy. This man deals in fear, shame, and lies. He has gone from a hero as an astronaut to appealing to the basest instincts of people, trying to whip us all into a herd mentality so we stampede to see who can surrender his rights the fastest so he can assuage his aching… whatever it is. I don’t have an ounce of respect for this honorless worm any longer. I hope gun rights activist and liberty lovers make his life personally uncomfortable by ratcheting up public pressure, and exposing and mocking his hypocrisy at every turn.

As to the Senators planning to filibuster any gun control bill in the Senate… Thank you, gentlemen. We have your back.

Remy on Jim Carrey

This is why I love Remy.  He’s not only an amazing talent and a hell of a funny guy (much funnier and more intelligent than Jim Carrey), but he also understands Carrey’s hypocrisy, exemplified by his latest tweet (and my reply).

Remy answers Carrey in his own inimitable musical style.

Talking ass, indeed.
